Bettie Page's autograph - and her prefered spelling
The following years - 1992 to Present Day

There are of course a great many reasons that Bettie decided to quit modeling, the main reason is her conversion to religion.  But other factors are there for consideration, such as The Kefauver Inquiry, a few stalking incidents, inveitably blackmail using fake sex photos. Possible other contributory factors include overexposure (no pun intended), a back injury, the need for a change of employment back to teaching and her advancing years (she was 37 when she left New York). The fact remains that she did withdraw from public life, but not without some kind of contact with friends and family as she commented in the 1998 radio interview with Karen Essex.

Bettie is in good health and enjoys sewing, gardening and watching old movies via cable TV. Now in her seventies she aims to reach a full century.
Bettie is thrilled with her rediscovered fame, she gives the occasional interview, but no photos, she would like her fans to remember her they way she was when she left public life in 1957.
After settling down in California Bettie has at last received the financial rewards owing to her rediscovery. Bettie is really pleased that she is still remembered and appreciated; she is some what puzzled by all the recent attention and denies doing anything of great importance.
She is quoted as saying: "It just surprises me. I have never heard any other model that 40 years later became more popular then when she was posing. They keep saying I am some kind of Icon and that I started the new generation sex movement. All I did was pose in the nude. I had less sexual activity in those 7 years in New York than I had at any other time in my life."

All of her true fans, like me, I am sure will want to wish her well and a long and properous life
and hope that Bettie does indeed make it to 100 years of age.

Best wishes and lots of luck to you
Bettie Mae Page.
